eBooks and audiobooks

The Roanoke Valley Libraries now provide two platforms for digital ebooks.  They are Overdrive and Ebsco.  Check them out with the links below!!  Great books are just a few clicks away!!!

What is Overdrive?

Overdrive offers access to popular and classic downloadable ebooks through devices such as computers, tablets, and smartphones.  The service aslo extends to audiobooks which can be listened to on computers, MP3 players and smartphones.

Overdrive ebooks and audio books are available at your convenience 24 hours a day and there is no need to worry about overdue fines since they are automatically "returned" at the end of the checkout period.  You simply browse the collection, check out the desired item(s), and download.

Users need a Roanoke Valley Library card and an internet connection to get started.

What is Ebsco?

Ebsco offers the most comprehensive collection of electronic books (eBooks) available. You will find eBooks on business, investing, travel and more. You will also find an extensive collection of classics.

To read or check out an ebook you will need to create an account on Ebsco by clicking on "create a free account" on the ebooks link below and following the instructions for creating a user name and password.  The account must be created online the first time at the Salem Public Library; once the account is set up the service can be used from any location where an internet connection is available.
