About Us

The Salem Public Library has always been a gathering place for students after school.  In an effort to give them a place to socialize, we opened the meeting room weekdays from 3-7 pm Monday through Thursday and 3-5 pm on Friday.  This room is now known as “Our Space” because it truly is the teen’s space at the library. (Grades 6 –10)  “Our Space” offers 11 Internet computers, Playstation 2, Game Cube, board games and other fun activities, such as parties, DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) and coming soon Guitar Hero.

Our Summer Reading Program is going to be exciting this year. The theme is “Metamorphosis” and we are planning some great activities.  Please put the dates below on your calendar.

June 20: Teen Mystery Night!  5 to 7 pm.

July 9:  Beading Craft Program!  2 to 4 pm.

July 17:  Henna Program with Sally Edleman!  2 to 4 pm.

July 25:  The Amazing Race!  5 to 7 pm.

Please don’t miss out on all the fun we are going to have this summer!

I hope to see you soon!

David Butler (Teen Services Librarian)
